You may have noticed that a few things are looking different on Counselling Online! While we are doing what we have always done – providing support to people affected by alcohol and other drug addiction – we have added some new information and tools to improve your experience.

It’s still extremely easy to start a chat session with one of our experienced counsellors – just click on ‘Get started’ on any page and you can get chatting right away. We are here to help you 24/7, and our support is private, confidential and free.

Here’s what we have been working on:

New look

One of the most obvious changes is the look of the website. We wanted to make it simple and contemporary, so that it’s easier to focus on key information and highlight import facts for those seeking help.

We have refreshed the colours and layout of website to improve accessibility for people with low vision and those that use screen readers.

An easier to navigate website

Our key objective has been making it easier for people to find the crucial information they are looking for, we have majorly restructured the site to assist with this placing essential pieces of information in more intuitive places on our site.

Our chatbot is a new feature, added to help people find information when they aren’t sure where to start. Located at the bottom right corner of every page, click on ‘Can we help?’, follow the prompts, and within a few clicks you find what you are looking for.

Whether you are trying to understand addiction and how it works, make a change, find support or help others, we have resources for you.

More support for families and friends

For every individual personally experiencing addiction, seven people around them are also affected. We wanted to do more to support this crucial group. Family and friends are an important part of the picture and need more resources to help them understand what is happening and also what support is available for them.
